About the event

Why domain expertise alone isn’t enough - How to launch startups in an emerging ecosystem!

Large and successful startup ecosystems do emerge from time to time, like Austin in the last decade. But how to make it happen where it never has, and by design and not by chance? After participating in startups in Silicon Valley and then again in Austin, Edward Cruz will share what he’s learned from those experiences as well as what he’s seen with the startups here in Tucson with his tech incubator, Go For Vertical. Attendees will learn more about the key attributes of a successful startup as well as some pitfalls to avoid on their entrepreneurial journey.

Edward Cruz is the founder of Go For Vertical, Tucson's first incubator focused on building technology and launching new startups. Before starting Go For Vertical, he was a successful enterprise software consultant based in San Francisco and Austin with a 20-year career of helping both startups and Fortune 500 corporations deliver complex and critical software platforms. Edward is a native Tucsonan, and happy to be bringing his skills and domain experience back to the Old Pueblo to help the next generation of entrepreneurs and businesses develop technology and go to market.
