NOW SERIES - Crossing the Continent (1527 - 1540)

Night Out With ( NOW ) series features opportunities to hear cultural stories from local community leaders. An evening filled with history and delicious food inspired by the presentation.

The story of the first African American explorer, Estevancio “Esteban”. He was sold to a Spanish nobleman and taken on the Spanish Narváez expedition in 1527. The party traversed the continent as far as western Mexico, into the Sonoran Desert to the region of Sonora.
